Cyber Police Station Jammu refunded an amount of Rs. one lacto the account of online fraud victim  (complainant).

Reports said that Cyber Police Station Jamu acting swiftly on a complaint filed by one Virinder Kumar S/O Beli Ram R/o Basohli Kathuaand  got refunded the amount to theparent account of the complainant. Narrating his ordeal, the complainantsubmitted that he has been defrauded of his hard earned money by a fraudster,while he shared the OTP displayed on his mobile number. He stated that hereceived a call from an unknown caller and as he shared the details with theperson making call, and an amount of Rs.99,402/- was debited from his account.Acting promptly on his complaint, a team of Cyber Police station Jammu led byInsp Manoj Gupta, under the supervision of SSP Sandeep Mehta, identified theroute of that transaction and found that amount was transferred to Augmont GoldPvt Ltd. Mumbai. The matter was immediately taken up with the Company and thefull amount of about One Lac which was transferred from the account was blockedand refunded to the victims account. Further investigations into the matterwith respect to the identification of the accused person is going on.It isworthwhile to mention that with the hectic efforts of the team, Cyber PoliceStation Jammu has recovered/refunded an amount of Rs.4.75 Lacs since Nov. 2019.

Sandeep Mehta, SSP Operations and Cyber Police Station Jammuhas appealed the general public not to share their Bank/ Personal details andother credentials with any unknown person as it may lead to fraud. The Banksand other PSUs never ask for the personal details of any person. Reconfirmingthe call from the respective banks can avoid these kind of frauds, he stressed.
